Fish, Just an idea....every trailer I have seen that is regular steel and painted, rusts quickly...while it is new....you may want to consider spraying the top side with truck bedliner coating/paint such as Rhino Lining.....it is durable finish and won't chip/peel/scratch like paint.:TU:

A good friends aluminum trailer has lots of problems with cracks in the frame. We have decided not to load anything heavier than a small car from now on so I have decided to stick with steel if I ever buy one. It's not a name brand so this might not be a problem with others but I thought I would give you my experience with aluminum in case you look at a used one for sale.
i just bought a 16 foot gatormade flat trailer from the factory in somerset ky 2k out the door i like it alot
