Take a large straight screwdriver. Set the end on the seat frame latch & force it back & up. The latch is under theseat, two positions. Look under & you will see them.
Careful on the upholstery. Not much room to get your shoulders/arm positioned with enough grunt.

Try and adjust the front seat so you can rest your elbow against it for leverage. Push it back and up. They can be a real PITA sometimes.

The trick I use to get the back seat of the Electra is such: I get my knees lined up with the bottom of the seat, where the metal frame is and then use my weight to push down and forward. Do about the same to get it back in too.

Dan tell us if you still need help. If so, I took mine out of my 73 GS, and I have pictutres, so they are probably the same.

I think your seat mounts the same as mine. I'm hoping a description of what your facing will help.

There are 2 loops of metal that act as the front legs of the lower cushion. The loops run side to side in the car (not front to back). These sit inside brackets that look like the letter C lying on it's back. You have to push the loops back far enough to get out of the notch at the top of the C but not too far. If you push too hard you'll push it under the back part of the C and it won't come out.

A little finesse, and patience and you'll get the hang of it.

The hardest decision is what to buy with the change you find there.

the problem some people have is by pushing the seat too far back and then it catches the other side of the "hook" while they are trying to pull up.

Sometimes, but not always. If the underneath framework is too rusty, it becomes too big to come out of the hooks. I've had to use a straight blade screwdriver and a hammer, just to break the rust loose, first, and then just push down and back, and it comes right out. :Smarty:

That's the quickest and easiest way that I've found, anyway:

If you can pull your rear carpet forward enough, so you can see under the rear seat, take a wide blade screwdriver/chisel/gasket scraper/etc., and turn the blade to 12 and 6 position. Put it next to the hook base, and just push the frame rod right back, in the slot. Lift the seat up and out. That's it. :Do No:

I hate fighting with them, anymore, so, there's hardly any effort with my new procedure. :TU:

If you try it, just be careful not to bend the frame rod, by pushing too hard. Otherwise you might have a hard time getting it back IN! :Smarty:

i have the opposite problem, the rear seat back in my skylark seems to be held in place by twi feeble screws attached to a flimsy bit of board. When driving down the freeway the roof down the back has a bad tendency to get blown loose, Its pretty light and I am always afraid that one day it will just blow out the car altogether.
I guess I should try and fix it a little more securely somtime

To remove the rear seat from my 70 Skylark I used a a piece of wood (hammer handle) to push on the "loops". Pull back the carpet and use a flashlight to see how "to push the loop". I had to push like hell to get mine out. Good luck
