My Block is stamped "I" "P" should be "KP". Searched everywhere online, and I cannot find a reference for "I" . I have a 1964 Skylark with the Aluminum heads and 4bl carb 300ci- Wildcat 355. At least that's what I thought I had Any idea what year is an "I" 300ci block?????? Numbers "593" are stamped above the letters. These are all on the passenger side of the block. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Sorry it took so long to respond Yes, here is my engine serial number: 5 Z 131239 None of the sites that I have used have given me any insight as to whether this might be the original block for my car....
The first '5' would be the year.... but '65's were all cast iron. 'Z' is for Freemont, CA Do the other numbers match your cars VIN? The '593' stamped near the ID code is a production code.... basically a date code. It is the number of shifts starting from the first day of the model year. So figuring 2 shifts/day 6 days/week, it's roughly 50 weeks into the production year....June to August. When was your car built?
Thank you- so this means that I definitely have a '65 engine block? The car VIN is: 3K3031080 I was told that the block is the original block ( but who knows). I am wondering if the "I" that I see stamped on the block was really a "K" that wasn't stamped properly.... it is supposed to be a KP block. It shows up a a single line "l", not with the small horizontal lines on the top and bottom of the "I". I guess this is possible?
