I want to block off my exhaust ports on my intake manifold that provide heat for the choke. Can you make a exhaust heated choke to electric. Or is it easier to buy a new carb ? :Do No: Thanks

yea, you can change to an electric setup. i had to do that to mine because the lines running to the choke rusted and broke, check out Carbs.net and look for chokes, they should have one to work for you.

The conversion is $60. Its just like running a timer on the choke.
I intend to run some copper tubing in place of the old stuff and try to maintain something tempreture oriented. Ian

Al, mine was for my Carter carb.......I don't have the part number any more. If you can find a counterperson at NAPA who isn't afraid to open up a parts book (good luck on that one  ) he should be able to get you the one you need. I got mine about 8 years ago, and at the time they made one for a Quadrajet carb too. :bglasses:

Joe, I have a Quradrajet and the intake gets so hot it boils the fuel. I need to find a part # for a kit for that carburetor, Thanks AL. :beer

I heard that a wood spacer under the carb would keep it cooler and help the warm fuel issue. I saw one on Jegs.com. I haven't tried it though.
