    Staged 1 GS restoration in progress(Finally)

    I have a buddy who has a 1970 GS. It is Cornet gold and has saddle interior. The vinyl top is a cream color and appears to be original. What I don't get is that I can't find a code for that color top in '70. E seems to be a '71 :Do No: Here is the cowl info-

    ST70 43437FL1 246997BDY
    TR176 55E PNT
    05B

    Thanks :bglasses:

    The top may be what is called Covert. Its a neutral type color. I don't have a 70 chassis manual so I might be wrong,but thats what my guess would be.

    No "E" though

    White = A or 1
    Black = B or 2
    Dk. Gold = H or 7
    Dk. Brown = F or 8
    Dk. Green = G or 9

    :confused:

    There was a light gold vinyl top in 70 that was discontinued early in the year. Don't know what the code was.

    The daily car reports do list a number "5" (no letter) vinyl top color of "Sandalwood".

    Only 328 GS's built with it.
    455 Coupes = 96
    350 Coupes = 232

    My guess is that this is what the letter "E" represents.

    With a build date of 05B (2nd week of May) the car is not an early model year car so maybe the color was phased in late in the year :Do No:
