This sits just above the package tray and at the base of the rear window. Stretches from side to side. Sorry for the crappy picture, I grabbed it off of the www... Any help is greatly appreciated. I need the long piece that runs the length of the rear window and the corner trim pieces.
I would call it the rear package tray trim, or rear window valance or the piece of trim the goes from side to side inside the rear window....lol...... good Q?
If I remember correct, the center section is part of the main body panel. It is painted metal. The corner pieces are plastic and replacements are made for those.
Ah yes I believe you are correct Sir..it is part of the body and not trim. BTW who sells the corners?
Sometimes, the hardest part to replacing something is figuring out what it's called. So, actual name for the corner trim pieces? And actual name for the long strip, unless we are in agreement that it is a part of the body...:idea2:
"Eggshells" is the common name. Try the Parts Place. Duane used to make these, but I think he ceased production some time ago.
The long trim as others have stated is part of the rear deck filler panel. Theres one for sale on the Bay- http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-1972-Skylark-GS-Rear-Window-Deck-Trunk-Filler-Panel-AMD-New-/251640255079?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a96ed9267
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. I've also located the other pieces I was looking for here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251771306712?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Thanks again for everyone's help!
the ebay corners appear to be the "rough" surfaced. I know that the pieces on my GS are smooth surfaced. Which is correct?
If I remember I got mine from The Parts Place. I understood that the originals were rough finish. They fit real good. Had more trouble fitting the vinyl piece that goes around the rear window and holds the headliner in.
Guys Guys Guys, I sure wish there was a Section devoted for reference only, that way we would not have to answer the same questions over & over Originally, 1970 "eggshells" were smooth 1971 "eggshells" some were smooth but there were also quite a few that came with a textured grain on them. 1972 "eggshells" were smooth Who wants to put this in the "reference" section? Now, the parts were originally molded pieces, and that is how I made mine. Also due to the fact that the majority were smooth, that is also how I made them. The pieces from the parts place are vacuum formed and will work, but are not exact. I believe they are using a grained material. And before anyone asks I have ZERO left. Duane
