Hey there folks, I have a quick question Im sure someone can give me some insight on. I have a 72 lark sport coupe ive been slowly restoring. I was able to come across an original dashpad in good shape recently. However, the color of it is on the lighter side than the one originally in the car. Nothing to extreme, it still fits quite well. Im going to post some pictures of the newer pad below in hopes someone can help me identify the FACTORY color name for it, as it will affect the remainder of my interior restoration. Im having trouble determine the color because of the HUGE variety of browns, saddles, golds and sandalwood's used on these Buick interiors during these years. I have a color chart handy, but all of the colors that look close to what I have look the exact same on a catalouge page. Below are the pictures. From my color chart its looking like it matches 4 different colors. From light saddle, to fawn, and more and more. If anyone could identify the factory color of this pad, i would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks, Jayson.

For 1972 a model number 3337 Skylark Sport Coupe, that color is likely Saddle. The other possibility for 1972 is Sandlewood which is lighter and has more of a greenish tint than your photo. Let me know what your model number is and I will post a page from the Color and Trim book from that year.

well the deal here is that im not sure if the dashpad I got most recently is off a 72. I believe its off of a a '70 or '71. Unfortunately I dont have the new pad with me until later today. But i thought id post a picture of the original 72 dash that was in the car. Its a much darker color and features a "fasten your seatbelt" message toward the center of the dash that lights up red when you put the car into gear, thought that was pretty cool for such an old car. below is the picture, idk if it will help narrow down the color of my newest one but hey its worth a shot. Thanks for your help original dashpad.jpg

the original is clearly MUCH darker brown than the one I will be putting on it later today. I know the lighting wasnt the greatest, if theres anything else I can do that might help narrow it down just let me know. your help is much appreciated.

I will try to go pick up the new dashpad later today and give you the model number off of it if its the only real way of telling its true color.

A dash with the fasten seatbelt pod is a very rare gauge only dash.and can be moved to another using a hole saw. Judging by my small cell phone pic it looks to me like your original dash is saddle and new isd sandlewood. I can tell you how to psint a dash and get an exact match to saddle. What is the trim code on you ttim tag? I can narrow down year of the mystery dash as well. Is there a peg or a blade on the back on the far left side? There should be a hand written in yellow crayon on the back.
