I have a 69 buick lesabre and was wondering if I could just go to the dealer to get new locks?? Can someone give me an idea here?? Thanks!
New cylinders Yes and No, The parts are still available for the 69...but.... It all depends on the dealership is what it comes down to. The insurance liability on having an "old" car in the shop. Your best bet is the dealers body shop. If you need any numbers or general info let me know. David
Is it possible to get keys made for door locks? I've got the starter key, but nothing for the doors.... Through the Vin or? ? Kimson
they might be able to ... but if they cant... the dealership body shop should be able to remove your trunk lock and make a key for it. that key should also fit your doors unless some previous owner has change the door or trunk locks. OR....they can rekey the trunk and door locks for a new key so a previous owners key wont work ... you got all kinds of options!!:TU:
Keys & cylinders FYI, ALL vehicles with the ORIGINAL cylinders have the key code stamped in the cylinder case from the factory. If the locks have been changed, especially the doors and trunk, they can be taken apart and the tumblers can be identified. If no key the best thing to do is a new ignition cylinder and re-code the rest useing the old or buying new. I do several a month........... David
