I have a question on camshaft recommendations. I have stock 455 with a TH400 that I'm rebuilding. I'm making the oiling modifications, converting to Stage 1 valves with a mild port job, .030 over with about 9.0 compression ratio. I'm having the exhaust manifolds hogged out and maybe the intake. The car has a 3.08 posi right now and I might go as high 3.23, but the car is mainly for show so I'm trying to maintain the stock looks, while still be able to run at the track maybe once or twice a year. What would you recommend for a camshaft? The GSCA Popular Since cam? A Stage 1 clone?, Can I get away with adjustable push rods or do you think I should drop the stock rockers and go to a TA roller setup? Thanks, Jim
Look at the head to head cam shootout on the dyno performed by Tri Shield as posted on Jim's website.
Cams Im using the Hemi Killer cam from Lunati and it is a nice cam with the rough idle but you may need higher lift springs for this cam.
Which cam? That's the $64,000 question, I've been reading everything I can get ahold of, and still can't decide between the TA212 and maybe something bigger... It REALLY depends on exactly what you want out of your total engine combination...Best bet is to search this site and then call TA and/or Postons for their advice. Lots of variables go into cam selection, I keep finding more each time I visit this board, which I think is a good thing...uzzled: :Brow:
You should call Comp cams to get a custom cam thats made to get what you want out of it. I'm getting a custom cam made for my 455 and its really not very expensive at all.
