Calling all 67 gs400's

  1. Hey all I'm pretty new here but I was hoping to get anyone on this board with a 67 GS400 to post some pictures. I am trying to decide on what to paint my car once it is ready, and there truly aren't that many pictures on the web. Any pics would be much appreciated plus it gives y'all a chance to show off your cars to a new classic Buick owner. Thanks for your time.

First off, thank you for your service!

On the paint, it really depends how classic you want to go. Some guys just paint them whatever color they like, others pick a Buick color that was available that specific year, and then there are those like myself who like to keep things as correct to the car as possible and paint the car the original color noted on the Cowl Tag. My Uncle's 67 GS400 is Blue Mist w/ the Vinyl Black Top. Which is true to the car and absolutely gorgeous out in the sunlight. He gets many complements on the color of his car. The Chevy guys call it Marina Blue, but for Buick it is Blue Mist or Paint Code "F", on the 1967 Paint Chip sheet.

Here is a picture of the '66 GS and the '67 GS400. The '66 is a Y-A paint code, Cream bottom and Regal Black Top.

  3. Thanks for the reply bulldog! Both of those cars are gorgeous, the blue really does sing in the sunlight. The original color on my car is platinum mist. I haven't seen too many pictures of that color to really make a judgement. I'm pretty much just trying to decide between the platinum mist and the correct Buick black(not sure of the name). I like the idea of all numbers matching which is what the rest of the car will be also, but that black just looks so damn sharp. I may just have to wait till I get back from Afghanistan and hope to stumble across a classic car or Buick event while I'm stateside so I can try to see them in person. But thanks again for the pictures and advice!

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

Go to Google and type in 67 GS 400. Then click on images, you will see a nice array of colors.

  5. Oh I've most definitely done that doo wop, and your right you do see many different colors. But the problem I'm having is that most of the photos are either low res or taken inside under what seem to be yellow hued lights so the colors don't look like they would outside.

    Sam,

You can't go wrong with platinum mist. Love that color as well. It's like a lighter gunmetal silver color, hard to describe. It would make a beautiful GS400. I love the black as well, but I would go with the Platinum Mist. Correct for the car and an awesome color. You don't see that shade of silver much, it's gorgeous. I would love to get one in that color myself.
