    Calendar!

Danie', I'd like to tell you again, what a awesome job you have done, one is going in my bedroom, so I can see a great Buick every morning, and the other is going to my office, so I can see a great Buick every day, all day!!! Thanks for all your effort, and save a place for my race car for 2006, as it may look like a picture opportunity in the next few months, rumors have it, it might get a 'real' paint job!
    Cheers! R :3gears:

Got mine!!! Thanks girl, it is excellent!!! :TU: :TU: :TU:

Just remember to save August '06 for my 2 '70's. Even though mine aren't great drag cars (my white one is a granny mobile) like the ones in the '05 calendar, I would be still be so THRILLED to see them in a calendar! I think I'd buy a whole bunch of them to hand out at work!!!

Danie', I just got my calendars today, unfortunately, some dumb@$$ Canada Customs inspector saw fit to slap an import duty of $8.44. on them.:af: :af:

Upon opening my package, it became apparent that they were probably jealous of your creative talent.

Very impressive, job well done :TU: :TU:

Maybe you can find room for my car in November. :Brow: Or has somone else claimed that month?

Thanks for putting in the effort it is most appreciated. :TU:

WHAT!! Thats crazy!! I don't think the other guys got charged that. At least I didn't hear if they did or not.

Well, I'm glad to hear you like it anyway. Thank you for the compliment  I don't know how I'm going to do next years yet, but I'm sure I can you in there somewhere. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy it!!

    Danie,
Sent you a PM when mine arrived as well. Very nice, looking forward to next edition too.
I too was nailed by our friendly Canada Customs & Revenue Agency.

    Great calendars, well worth it!

Steve, did your envelope have a CCRA import form attached too??
Mine said "4910002000 calendars, no cdn advertising" then further down they claim to have NOT OPENED the envelope.
I'm no Einstein, but if they did not open them, how in heck could they unequivocally make such a statement???

Maybe next year, us Canucks could arrange to get our shipped to someone close to the border. That way one of us could run down and get them.
I'd be willing to do it, I cross the border frequently in my job. Then I could ship them across Canada duty free!! :beer

Awe Man guys! That really sucks, I hate to hear that. Next time let figure something out that they can't nail you with that. I'll try to get them done earlier this next time. Maybe that way they can be picked up at an event. I'm really sorry to hear they did that to you guys.

I am glad to hear that you guys like it though :)
    Thanks!

    Danie,
No sorry allowed or accepted.. This is just a simple fact of life when importing from the US to The Great White North! Probably about 35% of all the $ I've spent on parts this past year was for brokerage & duties. This doesn't count the exchange.
Kind of like the old "Supply & Demand" theory from Gr.10 Economics class.
Supply is south of the border for all but a very few things. Demand is "How bad do I really want it?".

    Tom,
Package had a number of stickers on it. Postwoman...Postlady...Postgirl??
She brought it to the door & smiled. $8-9.00 please, I forget the exact amount.
Don't remember which stickers they were.

Looked a little closer and found breakdown as follows:

    GST $ 1.72
    PST $ 1.72
    Handling Fee ??? $ 5.00
    Total $ 8.44

Handling fee???? :af: :af: Just for some beaurocrat to sit a computer and prepare the Customs Postal Import Document??
That's what sets me off
The taxes are understandable, since Danie did put a US Customs export declaration sticker for $20.00 US value, which same beaurocrat converted into $24.59 Cdn, but a handling fee is over the top in my mind.
Oh well, such is life up here
Danie', as Steve said, no need to apologize, our beef is with our Canadian Government. :puzzled:
I need to get a delivery addy in Pembina ND, which is all of two miles south of the border.

Closest border from here is Calais, Maine. 60 miles west, as the crow flies. 60-70 minutes if the Mounties & the moose are on coffee break.
Have brought a few larger items in to try & save the shipping & brokerage.
Make sure you have all you duckies lined up in a nice little row when they ask for paper work.I had none one day, bringing across some used bucket seats,& a carpet set.Seats were from a private sale, carpet from Y-1, but was not expected.
Was able to call Y-1 & have them fax a bill of sale to the border office.
Couldn't reach the private sale vendor. Thought they were going to put me in jail that day, take my truck, the tools in it & rights to my first born.
Got away with a warning........must have been my good looks ???
