    Hello all,
i am in need of either rechroming or trading in my bumpers for new all ready redone bumpers(71') My rear bumper is in good structural shape no dents or bends but is in need of rechroming. Do I rechrome or trade in for new? What are some prices that people know? Also my front bumper is out of true, so needs some more work but chrome is better than the rear.
    Thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Unless you know the quality of the cores used for the bumpers for which you might trade stick with your own if they are good.

Bend your own cores to fit your car before you send them out.

Mummy wrap these and send them US Post Office to Tri Cities in Elizabethton Tn. It will take several months this time of year to get them done.

Yes I have and many others have to. Most places I might add are not going to have bumpers like you need to trade in the first place.

Kick71 you should read this thread regarding getting your bumpers rechromed:http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=89518&highlight I've got a 72 that I had both front and rear bumpers rechromed on. The front by Northstar and the rear by Tri-City. You can read my opinion about the quality of each on that thread.

Wow, that is excellent advice right there!

I made the mistake buying bumpers out right without any cores from Parts Place and they were sooo bad I wouldn't put them on a beater...really.

So I had to scramble to get some nice bumpers to make my debut at the second BPG. I was forced to use the good cores from my low mile SkyLark:ball:
So I drove miles to get them to a place to rechrome them. They turned out ok but took me literally a day and a half to get just the front one to fit right.

Fitting them frist would have saved a lot of time and problems.

Without a doubt you need to fit the bumpers to your car then send out.

Here is the outfit that I have used and my Uncle uses for his cars too. BTW his 66 Galaxie 500 7liter won best in class at Carlise this year.
They are in Richmond Va. Hanlon Plating 804-233-2021

Here is a pic of my uncles car.

Thanks for the information so far everyone. I am thinking of just having mine rechromed just need to pick a place to do it. I have laready had my front and rear bumpers off and back on for other repaires and they fit well so i should probably stick with them.

    HEY MIKE
I HAD MY REAR BUMPER RECHROMED A FEW YEARS AGO AT LIBRANDI'S PLATING IN MIDDLETOWN ,PA. 17057. THEY ARE JUST OUTSIDE OF HARRISBURG , NEXT TO THE AIRPORT. THEY DID AN GREAT JOB ON MY REAR BUMPER OF MY 72 GS-455. I'M GOING TO GET THE FRONT BUMPER DONE OVER THE WINTER. www.carchrome.com
