Anyone have any ideas of who rechromes bumpers in the Buffalo NY area? It seems that there are places on the web but paying $100+ each way shipping seems like added/wasted expense. Also, if I remember, 70,71 and 72 Skylarks bumpers are different. I thought the years were interchangeable but I remember something about a 70 had a lower license plate opening and had to bend the gas fill tube? Just exploring options if I come across a good bumper from similar years. Thanks for any input anyone might have on either topic.
1970 is unique 1971 and 1972 are the same except for holes to mount the 72 rubber impact strip If you're not too concerned with originality a 71 bumper looks fine on a 72 and vice verse. Only the purists will know
Yes each one is different. Not sure what year car you have. I have a 1971 Skylark bumper for sale. It is in good driver condition. Was rechromed in 2008. If interested let me know. The bumper is posted on this site for sale.
i used Goodmark industries. the price was great for what they promised 569.00 for 70 skylark-gs front or rear bumpers for SHOW QUALITY with lifetime warranty. sounded to good to be true. i know goodmark is a good company who stands behind there products so i took a chance and sent them my bumpers. there done by a company in minnesota i was told by Goodmark rep. well they came back perfect, virtually no imperfections, amazing quality, and were perfectly straight when installed. they started this service a couple-few years ago. they have 4 drop of points in US . you get back the bumpers you send. and they pay shipping back to you. i was very happy with my decision to send my bumpers to Goodmark Ind. http://www.rechromebumper.com/about.asp

great info all.....thanks!. I have a 72 Skylark convertible and not really concerned about keeping it entirely "pure". Just looking for options for once the cold weather breaks in a few months.
