Sounds BaaaadAzz You could always hit the trunk now with a couple cans of splatter to quell those dang purists, also locking in the toughliner goodness :idea2: ... then again, with your luck, they'd prolly be corrosively incompatible and turn into a metal eating slurry, working its way right through the trunk and peppering your new exhaust with dribble holes .. then again again, that would solve your "not loud enuf" problem !! Glad I could help o No:uzzled::TU:
Haha, wow Alan, I can't even compartmentalize that post into a response that has any logical progression..... But I'll try anyway! 1) Thanks! 2) I thought about splatter painting over it actually. 3) You're probably right, which is why I'm content not doing it! 4) I'm not sure its "not loud enuf", its just a shock to the system! It's quieter than my Silverado for Pete's sake! And 5) Yes, thanks so much for your help, I couldn't have done it without the " deep thoughts with Jack (Alan) Handy" input!! It was as confusing as it was confusing wait...what??? Haha
.. now you're just being redundantly redundant :error: Also Glad to see Team Green out enjoying their rides ..
From here I'm liking the sound of the new pipes, Shawn. Bad-Azz for sure!:TU::3gears: Oh....and that shudder at 3K? That's just because Rusty wants to visit 6K a little more often
Thanks Cole! I'll get some good seat time this weekend as there are a couple local cruises I plan to go to and the weather is finally gonna be decent, so I'm sure it'll grow on me. A little more break-in time and a few more bugs to work out, and rusty will get to see some higher revs once in a while! Right now the rev limiter is set to 5600 as a safety precaution if something were to let go under power, but once I'm confident everything's kosher I'll bump it up a pinch.
Fun little story. Taking my old man home from a local show the other night, cruising on a road with 2 lanes each way but soon would be merging down to one lane. I'm passing a fella on my left in a newer (not sure the year, but current body style) camaro. About the time I get even, I hear him drop a gear! Normally I'd ignore it, but for whatever reason reflexes happened and I dropped rusty to 3rd and gave it the beans. He had pulled a fender by then, then I abruptly pulled 4 or 5 lengths, backed down and merged. Now I have to be honest, I don't know if it was an ss or just an rs, didn't really get a look. So I'm not exactly beating my chest since it could've been just a 6. But whatever it was, it got more than it bargained for! As the old man put it, "the guy in the camaro is wondering what the heck that was!" Haha. In general, hulks doing well and I'm getting the feel for it again. Already making a list for this winters tweaks and changes, maybe even ever so lightly looking for ward to it. Still needs some tuning, its slightly rich (still) and I haven't adjusted to linkeage to get the secondaries all the way open. But it fires right up and runs like a champ, I'll worry about max performance soon enough.
Now that's what I'm talking about. Even if it was a V6 Camaro, built not bought still applies. Just goes to show there is nothing wrong "outdated" technology.
Where are you located in south west Ohio. I am originally from south west Ohio, Middletown to be exact.
Yes been there a few times. I live in South Carolina now. Well like the car. I have a 71 Skylark, had only a few months now.
Thanks! I've actually seen the pictures of your car in your intro thread, looks like a pretty clean piece. Enjoy the car, and that SC weather when us Ohioans are moving snow!! Haha
Thanks Ed. Although it's somewhat tame compared to your new mill! And the calendar gets as many (or more) looks as the engine does.
A little update on rusty. Been fighting carb tuning issues, so I installed an afr gauge. Hope to get back to doing some tuning this week. I also picked up a 1-1/4" front sway bar, and rear sway bar at the Gs nats this past weekend to sure up the handling. A big thanks to Lee Bacon for setting me up with those. I also have some adjustable upper control arms on the way, and will be picking up a set of boxed lowers soon. And it won't see use for quite some time, but that little devil on my shoulder got the best of me.... Once you've played with juice, you'll always want to do it again! They sometimes call it "dope" for a reason, it is addictive.
:Brow: Thats the spirit Shawn. I am sure you already know this but I suggest you dyno tune with the juice before making a habit of it to assure its all tuned right and not detonating. MarkO
