Where they put anywhere on the 72 Skylarks? Under seats? Top of gas tank? Under the carpet anywhere, up in the dash, in the doors? I had a 71 Camaro once that was not in any of those locations though I found one behind back seat but was for another car on the line that day of the build. But as I was stopping to look under the pass seat springs I looked at the bolt that held it down near the trans tunnel. I saw a very small pc of paper behind the carpet that was the faded color most of these car in a car that age. The paper was maybe a .5 inch in size. The carpet was junk in the car so I slowly pulled it back and bam right there under the carpet up along the trans tunnel was a built sheet in near complete state.
In my 72 Electra there was a build sheet in the front seat and I found a second one in the rear seat springing.
Found mine on top the gas tank when I went to replace the fuel sending unit, a 71 Fremont car. If your trunk has rusted out, it may just be dust.
Mine was also on top of the gas tank (1970), luckily it was all legible even with some rust pinholes in the trunk floor. Also found when I changed out the sending unit.
My friends '70 GSX stage 1 everybody looked everywhere for the build sheet. While we were installing the front windshield there was something??? rolled up in the Left A pillar painted yellow. Now for some reason he put his hand on the A pillar from the outside & felt something kinda soft. Pulled it out carefully as it felt like it was going to crumble. Turns out it was THE BUILD SHEET for his car. Covered in primer, filler & yellow paint. If he hadn't put his hand there it would have been part of the car forever with NO ONE NOTICING!!!! TOTALLY UNREAL!!!!
Dropped my tank a few weeks ago and pulled the dash/a-pillar - came up empty. Any other suggestions in terms of a Flint built car?
Brett, You could also have a "Body Shop Inspection Sheet" stuffed in the A-pillar on the driverside, and a small Fisher Body "Cheat Sheet" on top of the springs under the passenger side front seat bottom. You can also sometimes find a POBF under the carpet between the front seat and the pedals. Duane
I found the Fisher cheat sheet under my passenger's side seat back in April. Pulled the A-Pillar as well when I had the dash out.
I've heard of them being stuffed behind door panels and also taped around under dash wiring harnesses (early Mustangs). Can't hurt to peek there too. Seems like it was kind of up to whoever was working at the plant that day!
My 68 Wildcat was built in the Kansas City plant and I found 2 build sheets. The first one was in the backrest of the rear seat and was intact. A second identical one was inside the backrest of the front seat. I would never have found the second one, but a fellow member wanted the headrests from the power bench, so I cut the seat open to remove the mechanism and found the second one.
