uwasbuick NO, IT'S NOT A CHEVELLE!

while tearing down my 71 skylark i came across the original build sheet rolled up and wedged in the dash. on it were all the cars options, and the build date of 9-11-70. my question is... does this find change a cars value? just a note that when i bought the car it also had the original protect-o plate, new car folder for the glovebox, and quite a bit of paperwork from the first owner.

Any original documentation is always attractive to a buyer; however, unless the car is a unique and highly sought after model for example a GS 455, GSX, convertible, etc, that demands a significantly larger price than a base model, I think the value is unchanged with or without a build sheet.

When a rare model is being sold, most educated buyers will have some skepticism on its originality due to cloning concerns and will do some research to verify it. While a build sheet isn't the only method used to legitimize a car, it sure is a very important part of the package. It makes a buyer feel all warm and fuzzy and could be the clincher to make a them bite on a slightly higher asking price. All theory of course! :TU:
