    Howdy all,

As soon as the weather warms up a bit I am going searching for my build sheet in my 72 GS455. I know that it could be in the the door, the back seat or on top of the gas tank. But what I was wondering is if the location is unique to the assembly plant? My car was assembled in Framingham MA.

The build sheet is the last piece of documentation I need, as I have the original bill of sale and the original window sticker.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

Build sheet location is "somewhat" plant dependant. Flint (code H) are ususlaly over the gas tank. I've found Freemont and Kansas City in the rear seat springs.

    Randy,
I have parted a few GS cars as well as Skylarks that were produced at the Framingham plant.I found 1 from a 72 GS on the top of the gas tank.It was also very common that you will find thirds of a build sheet in various places too.I have a 72 Skylark with a Halo top that has 3 build sheets plus I found 2 of the left third parts of buildsheets.I would guess you will find something somewhere in the car to this effect.

    Hi Pat,

Thanks for the info and images. I will start with the easy places and work my way up to the harder to access areas.

On another note, my window sticker lists the rallye sport steering wheel as code X2 and the wheel is present on the car. However, the rim feels somewhat thin. Is/where there more than one type of rallye wheel? I hear people talk of 15" and 16" steering wheels and when I look at images of other people's steering wheels they appear to have a thicker grip than mine. Any idea?

    Cheers
    Randy

    Hi Randy -

Only the 1970 rallye steering wheel was 16''. The 1971-1972 (and 1970 GSX wheel) were all 15''.

    Actually Dan.....

This car had so many and they were all near perfect shape as you see.Unfortunately the car was so rusted it was pathetic...On a different note, I also found 4 build sheets in my 70 Skylark car that was built in Leeds plant...And get this.... there was also a perfect buildsheet for an L79 big block 4 speed El Camino in the seat with the 4th sheet. It even gets better.....I got the 72 from TuBBed and the 70 Skylark from his brother Delerious.

I found paperwork to my car stuffed behind the driver's side kick panel.

On a '71 Riviera is was under the dashpad right smack in the middle under the speaker.

Don't forget to look between the rear shelf fiber board and sheetmetal. That's where one of mine (Fremont) was.
    Good luck!

I found the one in my "x" rolled up under the carpet under the drivers side bucket seat, and one above the gas tank.

On my old "X" I found it over the transmission hump. The forward screw for the console went thru it. Thats the reason theres a hole in it. Just in case the new owner is reading this!

It does no good to tell WHERE you found the sheet...

Without mentioning WHICH plant built the car! :Smarty:

My 71 GS Stage 1 was built in Frammingham. The build sheet was found on the gas tank. Dennis
