I have a build sheet here I got from under the springs on a front bench seat, but I have no idea what car it originally came from or even what year it is. Can anyone give me some advice on how to figure this out? The only thing I can clearly understand is that it says "Car Line: Chevrolet." Thanks.
Ralph, 1D37U7B 1 = Chevrolet D = Chevelle Malibu Classic 37= 2 drs coup, Notch back U = 305/2 bbl 7 = modelyear 1977 (Sept 30/76-Oct 5/77) B = Baltimore factory What's missing are the last 6 digits, telling the productioncode
Thanks Erik! Another question though: Is it normal to find a build sheet under the front seat? I thought it was usually under just the back seats.
They could be anywhere. Sometimes where they're supposed to be, sometimes not :gt: Buicks are worse, as many came with NO paperwork in the car.
My Riviera buildsheet was on top of the fueltank, I've seen buildsheets hidden behind the headliner, under all seats or behind the dashboard. To be honest, I don't really know if there was a particular place in the car to put the buildsheet, maybe it was just all depending on the factoryworkers day and mood where to put it?
My guess is... The car was the "trash can" once the work order was completed! So the laziest workers just hid them, because the trash can would have meant walking a few more steps. :gt:
Re: My guess is... Dan, You don't know how true that statement is...I once saw a GSX that was undergoing a full restoration and under the carpet was a drink cup...complete with "GM" logo's all over it. It had to be placed there before the body was painted, as one side had "QQ" yellow paint all over it!!!
build sheet stuff i too found a coffee cup under the rear seat of my 70 chevelle and a friend of mine found one of those 6 oz coke bottles down inside the drivers door .
