Guys, I just finished the Build sheet article I promised I would do, and sent it off to Brad for proof reading. It has pictures of the common sheets and lists the places where they are usually found. Hopefully it will be in next month's BPG "Build Sheet". Just wanted to let everyone know. Duane
Thanks once again, Duane, for your support of this community! I look forward to reading your article.
Here is a strange one for you. I found a build sheet on the top of the gas tank on my 71. Then today I went to take out the carpet and found another one behind the toe kick panel and tucked under the carpet a little. Never heard of one their. But with the 2 of them I should be able to read everything now.
I just looked at both sheets and they are the same. The one on the gas tank was in better shape. Just another place to look. I thought their was only one per car but the job sequience number is the same on both.
I often see multiple sheets in a car. My old small block 71 GSX had the remnants of one on top of the gas tank, and a perfect one under the carpet. Both were the Production Order Body Final sheets. A frind of mine had a 67 Impala SS 427 car and by the time we were done taking it apart we had 7 copies of the same build sheet. Duane
Carl, You don't need one, you can get all your info from Wayne Roberts. It's us 71 guys I feel sorry for, without a buildsheet, restoring a 71 car is an "options" guessing game. There is no other available source of documentation, other then for cars that were originally sold to canada. Duane
Well I found another peice undr the rear package tray. Duane are you doing the repo's of these. Please email me the cost and what you need to do it. I can scan the peices I have or photo copy them and send them to you.
Robert, I have the prices for all the sheets I decode, along with the info I need, listed on my website. If you go to www.classiccarinteriors.com and select the buildsheet button it shows a Production Order Body Final sheet (POBF). Click on "Build Sheet Decoding Form", under the (POBF), this gets you to another page with the prices and info needed. The price depends on which sheet you need decoded, Flint sheets are simple and only have so much info on them. The sheets for the other production plants are very involved, they take a long time to decode, and cost more. Duane
Robert, Then it would be $40.00 for the sheet and another 10 if you want the UPC codes listed. Most people don't do the UPC codes because they are almost all self-explanatory. Duane
Thanks Daune, I would like to do this because then I will have real proof that this is a rare car one of the 103 - 71 gs 455 4 speeds. I will try and get you what you need this week to start the proccess. Thanks again :TU:
Robert, That's fine. I have so much going on right now I can't start on it for 3 weeks. That should give you plenty of time to gather the info. Duane PS. Make sure you send me copies of all the pieces.
Daune can you send me your email address so I can send you a copy of this and make sure it is the build sheet. It has the job sequence # on it and the top half is boxs with letters and the bottom is options on the car. and below that is the dealers address and all that good stuff.
Thanks Nicholas, This is the first time I have been able to find any of these and I just wanted to make sure. Didn't wanted to miss led anyone. Duane, I sent you a scaned copy of it peiced together. I have scaned copyies of all the peices also if you would like to see them. I hope that download of the copy was not to long.
