There are at least a few Buicks parked there: (Cars were jammed even more than usual into every spare space at a downtown commercial parking lot during a bus strike in Washington, D.C., in May 1974. Some 250,000 people were forced to find alternate forms of transportation. Monumental traffic jams resulted as drivers learned there were more cars than legal places to park. (Jim Pickerell/NARA))
Cool pics, they convey an era when things weren't as fast -paced or as loaded down with people as it is now. Got some great ideas for my model railroad. Notice one thing that's missing in most of those old photos, especially the ones taken downtown where ever? Trees... One neat thing about those old cameras, especially the cheap cassette cameras that people used to use, they rarely had good coated lenses. So not only is the perspective slightly off, but the colours are more pastel and and not as sharp. Cool effect, love looking at them. As for what's going on in the very first pic of the thread, one can only hope that it's a mob hit about to go down...(hopefully it wasn't pulled from the vice squad files!) check out what looks to be a very young John Candy leaning against the post, he's got the keys to the Electra and as soon as the old guy is popped off, he hits the trunk release and bozo is loaded in to "go sleep widt' da fishes"...
early eighties in the south of Lebanon; a gold/silver salesman (aka 'Sammy Gold') visiting army posts in his (69?) Skylark 4dr. I still have the gold he sold me back then: From the net:
Interesting about the older cheapie cameras/lenses! I always wondered why the pics looked yellow/orangeish and grainy. It does add a certain "patina" to the pics, and very interesting to look at:TU:
Yeah, well, ah, er, loved that stratomist blue with the white insides.. Bill in TR Back in the day, before digital pics, photography was a kinda expensive hobby, but still always had that AE 1 with me! For a good 10 years; early 70s to the early 80s, it was easy to flip these guys for $1-2K each every six months; if I only knew then what I know now...:spank: ou:

Yes, check the DVD box I gave you, this scene is from season 1, episode 10 :TU: This scene is at 43:05 minutes. Telly's brother was driving, he rammed a Ford and lost the bumper: Stavros didn't stop and pushed the front bumper along to stop the two Cadillac limousines, this because there was a bomb in the first car:
And check out the 65 or 66 Electra parked on the right hand side in the last frame! How many times did they have to fix Savalas's Century? What year was that thing? 74 or 75? Can't remember the last time I ever saw one of those sedans on the road!
I guess it's a 65 LeSabre or Wildcat, not an Electra....Still no idea what the Century is, is it a 75? I imgine the next frame is when he blows a tire running over all that junk that just fell off. I was wondering why there were dents in the roof on later shows...
