I just got back for BJ. 71 Rosewood car was not that nice. Had some body mismatches, engine bay looked like a driver and underside suffered. The drop top sold for big money $159,500.00 I think after fees. Prices at Palm Beach are generally down from Scottsdale every year. Most stuff is down this year vs 06. If you'd see some the cars in person, that look like they sparkle under the lights on TV, you'd be shocked at the quality. You've got some really nice stuff and alot of really average stuff. I think the super event auctions have seen their time. Too much going on under the table.
This is the beginning of an overdue correction in the collector car market, ala the early '90s. I believe there won't be quite so many consigners clamoring to list their high-dollar restos going forward. Too many cars sold for way under their restoration costs. I agree, seeing the cars in person, there were quite a few average cars, but even the spectacular cars were way off last year's prices. Lots of unhappy sellers. I'll definitely be registered next year.
170K for the Stage 1 4spd convert, wow. I will settle for my 72 4spd clone it is nearly identical, exactly the same and I can drive it without worry. I paid way less that 30K. I thought I was getting screwed at the time, maybe not?o No:
Reviving an old thread but does anyone know if the 71 Stage vert went to a Buick guy or a collector? Havent seen it resurface anywhere to my knowledge. Not very specific on the "numbers matching" or no mention of a build sheet. o No:
