hello everyone...i bought some 1 in lowering springs off of some board member and i'm really loving my stance now. but the front end sits so low that when i turn the wheel all the way to the left my front right tire rubs the fender lip (outside part)

now i have no trouble turning right or from the driver tire at all.

does this mean i need bump stops, or do i just need to raise the car up some? anyway i could put like a spacer under the springs?

also any cheap way of doing a bump stop? i'm not sure on this topic...

    thanks guys

Check the fender support near the front of the fender - there should be a bar (actually, stamped metal) from the frame rail to the front bottom edge of the fender.

It might be that you are too low, or maybe the support rusted away of fell off or something, and the fender isn't held out far enough.

What size wheels and tires? That may help some.

wheels are 14x6 ralley's and tires are 225/70-14

i was asking around and they told me that i could just get little spacers for my current springs, it would make the ride a little stiffer but i could raise it up maybe like half an inch and maybe solve my problem...

    any thoughts on that?

spacers can be used but u may need to raise the front end more that it is safe to use a spacer. with the proper springs, u can have 15x8 rallyes + 245r60 tires.

heavier shocks like bilsteins cang give you 1/2 in to a 1 in raise

i thought about maybe changing my shocks. i like the reviews of the edelbrock IAS shocks. what do you guys think?

right now i don't have a lot of money to spend on the car other than fixing the rust i found under the vinyl top...so i may just try the spacers first...i shouldn't have to raise it much.

    thanks for the tips guys!

    daward Measure twice, cut once.

I ran IAS shocks, Hotckis lowering springs and 225/70 14's for a couple years when my '66 was a daily driver. I had the tires rub when the wheel was locked to both sides.

I just dealt with it. That was back when it was a small block car too... I'm scared to see how it'll be now that its got a 455 between the fenders. :Dou:

But, for your question, the Edelbrocks are absolutely the best shock I've run on any of my cars. If I could afford to, I'd change the bilsteins out on my '96 Impala for IAS' :beer
