Well life is settling down a bit and the weather is starting to get good.
Time to start putting some miles on the car. I have been reading about cam bearing and gear melt downs again. I keep telling myself to stay away from those posts. So I have some questions, mostly just to start a new thread and get some ideas. My 455 has 100K plus miles on it. I added a mild cam about 500 miles ago. I am guessing I am out of the woods as far as cam bearings go. I have good oil pressure.
    1) Should I worry about the lifter noise on start up? It goes away as soon as the oil gauge shows pressure. I really do not want to open it up.
    2) It shifts at about 4800 RPM should I leave it alone and save $30
or modify the governor and go for more?
This is in my 71 Custom convertible that is finally done after 3 plus years.
3.23 posi and TH350. 14.6 best yet. I want to get closer to 14.0 but do not want to junk a motor. I should probably just keep it on the street, but the track sure is fun.

    TIA

I vote you mess with the governor! Oh and bigger tires! Do you have headers? Maybe some shorties?

In all seriousness wouldn't you be close to 14 flat if you could get it to hook better?

I'm glad your getting back to your hobbies! :TU:
