I need four buick a-body steel wheels, that hold the poverty caps. As nice as possible for my 65 skylark GS. I'm not even sure they made them in 15 inch wheels that fit my bolt pattern ? Anyone care to chime in ?? feel free !! Gary/Moz

To be correct for your year, you need 14x6. I don't think I have seen 15x7 plain "steelies".

I know you can order wheels from Specialty Wheels and Wheel Vintiques.

lots of mid 70s to 80s gm a bodies and the caprices-bonnies-88s-lesabres with 4-3/4 bolt had 15x6 and 15x7 steels...run them on my buick and the dog dish fits ok..good luck

    got mine!

Hi Guys! I picked up a beautiful set of (4) 15X7 standard steel wheels from a 82 Caprice 4 door at a pick'n pull yard for $6 each! The "poverty caps" snap right on! If you look around, you'll find a set! :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Yeah...but try finding 15x8's,for less than your house payment...Old Vette wheels were 15x8 but darn expensive.

Wow, that seller's wheels have gone drastically higher in price over the last year!

It seems like they were around $40/set cheaper a while back. But if they're available off a mid 80's Caprice, then that would be the way to go!

I might have to get me some if I can find them, since I've got several dog dishes in the garage.

Would the backspacing on the later wheels affect the fit on the 65? I think they might limit his tire size. I would compare what the stock wheel had for backspacing to the later model wheels.

    Pat,
You can get new Vette Rallyes for $80 each from many vendors. www.nationalpartsdepot.com carries them for Chevelles for that price.

    O'yeah-but!. . .

Those Corvette Chevy type wheels have that ever-so-obvious 5 slots that you cant get away from. . .the 15X7 80-82 Caprice wheels I bought appear just like the original 14" or 15" stamped steel wheels our car came with. .IF you ordered hubcaps that is. SO If you want to keep that BUICK looking ALL BUICK. . try, TRY to locate a set of Caprice wheels. . .I have a few pix of a BEAUTIFUL silver 65 GS (GS NATS 05) with these exact caprice wheels on it and poverty hubaps. . .GORGEOUS. .and they fit excellent! SInce I cant figer out how to attach pix to this post. .email me direct if you wanna see pix! Wheelz, Tampa Bay PenWheelz@ij.net

Ok, thanks for the Ebay link and Wheelz pic, I now know what they look like. Our local yards here are full of them so those should not be hard to find.

judging by the body side trim the silver car is a skylark. but you are correct that the look is awesome. i love rally wheels but theres something about a 65 with poverty caps

    gotbuick What, me worry?

When a car is done right, poverty caps give that no frills all business look. More recently it also throws in a "sleeper" effect.

    yeah. . .MY BAD.

Guys. . Since I will be starting a restoration on my own 65 GS convertible.. while at the GS NAts this year I snapped every pix of ANY 65 I could !!!! SO when I previously stated I remembered having a pix of a 65 GS so ya'll could see the wheels/poverty caps combo. . .I just didn't remember this particular "65 wasn't a GS. :eek2: . It IS a Lark. .AND, . . I think you'll agree, a GORGEOUS one at that! :TU: Thanks for keeping me honest! BTW. .I am on-the-hunt for a set of original 65 14X6 Rallye wheels. . .anybody gottney? :Do No: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

That is a cool look! That silver Skylark (that I thought was a GS just cause I was staring at the wheels!) rocks.
So this is what I need for a '65 Special/Skylark\Gran Sport?

    "(4) 15X7 standard steel wheels from a 82 Caprice 4 door at a pick'n pull yard for $6 each!"

    Thanks Wheelz!

Here's a pic of some 15x8" steel rims that I was told were from an early Vette, as in before ralleye rims came around.

I haven't found anyone that can 100% verify what they are from, but they fit perfectly on my '69 GS with some big Hoosiers mounted on them.

Does anyone know if Specialty Wheels or someone makes 15 x 8 steel rims with 4 1/2" backspacing, and you can put the dog dish on?
Would like to fit a chunky Hoosier on my 71.

I bought my wheels a couple of years ago brand new with 4 7/8 BS 15x8 for $58 each plus shipping, they will make any BS needed. Style 62 on their website. I put 15x6 in the front.
