Well, not exactly an official museum. This is Eric's late dad's 61 and garage The sheer amount of Buick signs in the garage is astounding. There isn't enough wall space to hang them all. Some are hand made.
The 61 was bought new by Eric's dad as a leftover from George Buick in Hempstead NY. When I say the car was meticulously taken care of since new would be an understatement. It still wears 100 percent of it's original paint. It has it's original top and interior to boot. Eric's father took extensive record keeping of everything that was done including a separate book that lists every single time the car was waxed. Day, date and the type of wax used. C for collinite, s for simonize. It's really amazing. He even recorded the time it was when he purchased the car.
Wow is right! If you add up the number of times I've waxed all the cars I've ever owned, it wouldn't even fill up one page of his notebook!
Awesome! You could probably acid dip that car and the paint wouldn't budge. I'm counting 7 wax jobs in '63 and 2 in August. Prime example of what I assume is a member from the "Greatest Generation"? Most of us here know all about them, but maybe a few younger members don't. My grandparents documented every time I stoped to visit or fix something around the house, Including what I fixed, time, date, how much supplies cost and what I ate.
Fantastic collection and beautiful 61 I think it was featured online or maybe in the Buick bugle!? Thanks for sharing!!!
And inside the house is a room of more memorabilia. Loose leaf binders full of pictures, road tests, articles, parts manuals, service manuals, etc plus all the model cars. I could be locked in this room all day and not be bored.
I thought this was amusing. How many of us can say we've been going to the BCA nationals since we were a kid? That's Eric and his sister in the stroller with a huge Buick sign his father had just bought for $40 That same sign is hanging in his father's garage to this day.
