I just purchased a 1967 Skylark over the weekend. Great condition. Nothing too fancy, just a small block V8 with 2 spd tran.

This site looks like a great place to get info. The trans is not shifting out of second until it reaches 55mph (don't know engine RPM- no tach). The original carb was replaced with a Holley 2 barrel. The kickdown linkage is disconnected since it didn't match the carb. Anybody have any suggestions on what is causing this problem.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the party!:beer

Your shifting problem could be related to your kickdown not being connected to the carb. Someone else may be able to give you a more definite answer than me. Try posting your question in the "the juice box" section here......that's where many tranny questions are asked.

I agree with Joe on the kickdown situation.

I get the feeling there is a joke in that response somewhere...

Any how I was able to get some good feed back on the juice box section. The kick down cable was pushed in manually (the kickdown cable isn't hooked up to the after market Holley carb) so I pulled it out. This fixed the shifting issue. It now shifts normally.

I really need to rebuild the original carb and get it back on the manifold.

    Thanks
