Does anybody know where a person can get a Buick crate motor, if they are even made?

A Buick buddy of mine ( my bodyshop guy) who used to work at the local Buick dealer actually has 2 ACTUAL from the factory Buick crate motors from the early 70s. These were warranty replacement motors I guess. They are all covered in cosmeline (sp). He's one of those guys who never wants to sell anything (believe me I've tried). He also had a set of original stage IIs still in GM boxes that he sold at Bowling Green years ago before they were available in aluminum.

Time machine . Thats all I want is a time machine....

Get one built by a reputable Buick builder I am sure you'll be happy.
    Good luck

I think PAW now builds a brand new STRONGER cast iron 455 block, I just saw something about it this weekend

Ummmm..... That would be PAE, not PAW! (That would be funny, an aftermarket Buick block through PAW!!!)

It tortures me too believe me . he was working at the dealer when they were unloading the stuff and it was a dealer that used to race back in the day so there was a bunch of stuff he snagged up.

Cant say I hate him . He got me into Buicks in the first place . He gave ma a ride in his switch pitch equipped 455 powered 69 GS back in the early eighties ---I was hooked.
Also cant say I hate him because he is one of those body men with a shrinker/stretcher and an english wheel in his shop, hates body filler and will have my car for the next 2-3 months !

Call TA.. Mike told me he has 7 of those NOS shortblocks, and can sell you one, or build a complete motor for you out of it.

That would prolly be the quickest turn around for you.

    Tell him I sent you.

All new 455 cast iron cylinder block

What the Buick community has been waiting years for. Our factory weak blocks are fast becoming more difficult to find and of course are not up to the tasks being demanded of them by the performance enthusiast of today. PAE Enterprises, Inc. has stepped up to fill this void in our community.
    Our new block features:

    * Stock bore spacing with Siamese cylinders, which will allow up to a massive 4.5 inch bore.
    * Priority main bearing oiling system (the crank will get oil first!)

    * Massively increased main webbing and the use of 4 bolt main caps and optional Billet Steel Caps.

    * A solid lifter valley to eliminate lifter bore breakage and allow the use of optional larger diameter lifters.

    * More material in the cam journal area to allow use of custom larger diameter camshafts.

    * Optional smaller diameter main bearing saddles to reduce crankshaft bearing speed and reduce friction. Less friction means more horsepower!

    * Additional head bolt bosses and holes for increased cylinder head sealing.

This is what the Buick community has been waiting years for!

This block is designed to accept as much currently available parts as possible while having enough added in features for future planned product introductions.
