My 67 GS has disc brakes and the factory 14" rally wheels with chrome rings and centre caps. I want to switch to 15" Buick chrome spoke wheels. What year wheels do I need to use so they clear the caliper. I have one set of 15" now but they hit the caliper. Any help is appreciated.
rim codes there are several codes on the rims . u need to look for the code "JJ" as this denotes disk brakes ready . i think the first 15" for the a-body cars was 1970 . there is also a date stamp on the rims & i would have to look it up for the format .
Harvey, what color were your stock wheels? Black? I have a '67 GS with disc too and mine were silver when I got it, but I think they should be black, probably satin. Thanks, Pete
Hi Pete, Mine are painted the same color as the car, but that was done afterwards. Looking at some pics in brochures of cars with rallye wheels they came from the factory Argent Silver, same as Chev's. Nice car, by the way. If you run into another 67 GS convert in your area please let me know. I'm looking for one, preferably one to restore, not already done. I'm also looking for a frame for my 67 if you know of anybody or place with parts. You're nice and close! Thanks Harvey
Thanks for the info, Harvey, I've been looking for pics to confirm that for a while. Your car is quite nice also, that's a great color! I'll keep an eye out for a car or frame for you, but I actually trucked mine in from Florida! If you're out cruising Sunday (1st) near Abbotsford, I'm racing motorcycles at the Tradex at the airport. Thanks again.
Hi Pete, Do they have races at the Abbotsford airport? I heard there are motorcycle races at Mission Raceway this weekend. Let me know for certain if it is Abbotsford and I will definitely try to get out to meet you. What will you be driving so I can find you? Thanks Harvey
The '68 "Disc Brake Rallyes" that I got were originally painted body color (blue). This is something that I too was wondering, were they all painted body color or just some? o No:
Harvey, I'm not sure if they are roadracing at Mission, but there is a Supermoto (1/4 dirt-3/4 pavement) race at the Tradex in Abbotsford tomorrow. I'll be riding a black Honda CRF450, #11N. Hope to see you there.
