Buick as a tourist attraction

66electrafied Just tossing in my nickel's worth

So I just got back from my annual trip to visit my parents on Vancouver Island, and this year, against my better judgement, I decided to take the 66 Electra. I figured since I essentially built the car as a driver, that's what I should use it for. So, considering all the trouble I've had with it this spring, I hopped in and hoped for the best, and started to drive...

...and it didn't miss a beat, it was a completely uneventful trip. For the first time since I built it there were absolutely no issues. I realize now that putting on that early Q-Jet was a huge mistake, the old AFB (still not rebuilt, amazingly enough) was a real trooper and worked perfectly. The car had power when it needed it, it ran like a Swiss watch, and compared to my Wildcat which I took last year, it sipped fuel. (Okay, that's a stretch, but it didn't use as much)

Here it is at the Tswassen Ferry, waiting to go to Swartz Bay on the Island. As I walked out of the building, a group of Chinese tourists were photographing themselves with the car. They'd never seen anything like it...

I couldn't get many other shots with the car, the weather wasn't the best, certainly not conducive to top-down cruising.
The only complaints were that the top leaks in the rain, it has a driveline drone that is pronounced at cruise at 70 mph but more or less goes away at 80, and that since one catch is buggered, the top has a very annoying whistle at that speed unless the gap is sealed by water. Oh yeah, the light in the clock burned out. Other than that, a perfect trip.
    It's about time too...

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Road trips are always more fun in a classic car when everything goes well. I always seem a bit on edge worrying about idiot drivers.
