are there any simularities between the buick and pontiac 455 engines besides the displacement? I'm mainly wondering about engine mount locations.

Let me think... I think the distributor cap and rotor interchanges.

The oil is interchancheable, but only from a Buick to a Pontiac--wouldn't want any "germs" in a Buick!

With respect to engine mounting, I believe they will interchange as long as you bring along the frame pads. Other than that, everything changes except maybe the carb, radiator, and alternator. You will have to change exhaust, fuel line routing, wiring locations, etc. It can be done, but you're essentially re-doing the whole engine compartment.

BOP bellhousings are the same. I put a Buick Turbo400 into a '66 LeMans with a 326 many years ago.
