just wondering if anyone has any idea how a bb 400 would go into a trans am the reason I ask is I have a nice 400 with a th400 bolted to it and there is a fairly decent 76 trans am without a motor for sale down the road from me.The car has t-tops and the body and interior is not too bad he wants 500 o.b.o. so I think I could pick it up for about 300.00
    thanks AL

Being a long-time Pontiac guy, the first thought that came to my mind was 'what would people on here say if it was a 400 Pontiac into a Buick'

I can't tell you about fitment (likely not a problem), but I believe you will have some rewiring to do: battery & starter on opposite side; distributor location (not sure about a 400 Buick...is it in front?); driveshaft shortening (the T/A was probably a TH350 ss).

If nothing else, asumming the T/A is in good condition, '76's are getting harder to find.....for $500, grab it.

    Thaks Reid,
yeah I know its kinda bad form to put my precious buick 400 into a pontiac but I thought if it was an easy fit I would be able to turn it quick so I had more money to put into my buick :Brow:

YEAH.... grab the car :Brow: It would be best to find a pontiac motor for the T/A.....as you may also have problems with the BBB 400 and the shaker hood alinement :puzzled: :Do No:

DO IT!!!! And when you're done, go to musclecarclubs.com and tell Mr.Peabody how much faster that TA is with Buick power. :Brow: (long story....he says BB Buicks are slugs )

JUST DON'T PUT A CHEBBY IN IT WHATEVER YOU DO! :spank:
