Having a valve job and heads ported will be the best money spent, even if you do not put in anything larger than a street cam. This would even make the stock cam run better. Spend the money on the heads first, then buy the rest.
You should always be testing at the track no matter what is is under the hood. the better the time, the better the car is running, I started at 16.80 and went from there.
I don't get on here much but saw this thread and it just put a smile on my face. Looking to go fast again!
Since I've owned my 350 I have not bin able to get to the track but in the following months, I insure you i will have a time slip and hope will be faster than the 15.3 driven by the previous owner with polyglass tires no traction, suspension not set up for drag racing and a 300 lbs useless roll bar in the car not NHRA legal, This car need to go on a serious diet !! I think it was weighed @ 3900 lbs let the shaving begin !!!
I am hoping to! Planning on saving up for some slicks and wheels this winter and get some times in early while the air is still cool. I am really hoping for mid 13s with the motor, maybe I will try a few suspension tweaks if I get to feeling frisky. Lord willing and the creek don't rise I'll be making some adjustments for a single plane.
So she is in pieces right now but the engine is rebuilt and the transmission is rebuilt and all is ready to be installed back. I am hoping for a productive week of getting the engine fired back up by this next weekend. Since I plan on drive her on the street I will be getting rid of the bte 3500 stall for a hughes 2500. still debating on which gears to run but after some testing I should have a good idea. http://youtu.be/nxIJILIkz1E

so a good chuckle for the day! Thumpr Cams ... BootLegger Cams ... lol.... can you say old school lessons... think KB 107 window rattler or KB 113 or KB 118 which I am running... now if I can just get a roller version of my 118 that would be the bomb! but for now I just find it amusing!
Hey Maurice where did you find 11.1 pistons or is that the result in shaving the heads .060 and not any intake fitment issues ? Im going with a solid cam best of both worlds i can adjust accordingly for more bottom end or top end...
I had the heads and intake milled .060 to bring the compression up but also the pistons had to have valve reliefs for the cam. I am actually pushing more like 11.2 comp which would max out my cam for the street. Now my heads and intake are married to each other since I had the intake milled also. you can have your heads intake side milled to match up your ports to your intake so you can use your intake with other heads later.
alright so after talking with a friend last night... I am going to pull my bte 10" convertor back out and am looking for a 3.90 ring and pinion set for my Buick 8.2... any sugesstions as to whom i need to talk to about a posi carrier and gears? I have 3.23 ring and pinion plus refurbished posi carrier and master kit to rebuild a GM8.5 I am willing to do some trading for what I need. also a hughes street master 2500 stall never used. points and hei distributors, a quadrajet (i think for a 455), assorted chrome trim peices from a 68 skylark all in great condition. I just really need to find 3.90 gears and a posi carrier...
