When I bought the car I'm working on most of the parts were in boxes and plastic containers. Now that I'm finishing up the engine I find that I don't think I have the correct distributor hold down clamp. The one I found in one of the boxes looks more like the ones used on a small block Chevy engine. The only way it would fit would be if I was to use a spacer to raise it up from the mounting boss on the water pump so it would be parallel to where the clamp would fit on the distributor. Seems hokey and not right. What does the correct hold down clamp look like? Can someone post a photo of one please? Or better yet where can I get the correct clamp? Help!
This is what the 350 and 455 hold downs That I have seen look like, http://www.ebay.com/itm/68-69-70-71...istributor-Hold-Down-Clamp-Bolt-/390140232284 Not sure what came with the 215. TA Performance sells this one, http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA_1340A You could probably make that with a trip to the hardware store.
Well heres a couple pics of 1 of my 215 hold down clamps. Looks similar to a chevy hold down clamp. Hope this helps. Keith
Keith, That's what I thought it would look like. I have a friend that has one and can borrow it to use as a template so I can fabricate one. Or I'll search around for one that I can buy rather then take the time to make one. Do you have an extra or know who might? Thanks!
I think I have one of those,it came from a 215 I had,I still have a set of aluminum heads and the 4 barrel intake out of it.Bruno.
Bruno & Keith, Thanks so much for your help. I still need a dist clamp so if either of you gentleman have one within reach I would really appreciate it if you sell it to me. Just let me know how much you want and what the shipping would be and I'll send a check out to you immediately. My zip code is 92646. Hopefully the clamp would fit in a small bubble envelope and could go via USPS or a small UPS flat rate box. Thanks again! Lou
I know I have it,but I have the same problem as he does.I'll have to find it.If he finds it before me,fine, take his.Bruno.

Bruno, thanks so much for helping me out. I have a question you or someone else might be able to answer. I have a Edelbrock intake manifold on my 215 Buick engine and on the back of the manifold there's a large outlet that looks like it's for water possibly for a heater. I'm most likely going to tap a water hose/pipe to feed the heater so can I just block off the outlet?
Bruno, I received the distributor clamps this morning. When I see which one fits the best I'll return the other to you. Thanks again for helping me out! Lou
