For you guys looking to fill you own nitrous bottles heres a little "how to". You can get a 75 lb nitrous bottle at your local welding supply store/distributor. You don't usually buy the bottle you rent it. Then all you need is a bottle fitting #4 line, nitrous line filter, and a high pressure on/off valve that you put right before the bottles you fill. After you empty your 10lb bottle, just put it in a freezer and freeze it. When its "frozen" connect it to the 75 lb bottle open all the valves and it will fill. It is recommended that you have a scale since if its over 90 degrees where the bottle is stored, you can over fill the bottle your filling. Likewise you can under fill a bottle if the 75 lb bottle is too cold. Its not generally a problem since most people race during the summer. A Moroso 110 plug in bottle heater can fix that though. If you can keep an eye on the bottle weight you will get the hang of it and what it takes to get a good fill on a bottle. You can cut your bottle filling expense in half if you learn to do it yourself. Don't worry, there is a safety blow off valve on bottles so worst case of you over filled it and left it in the car in the sun, it would pop the safety and empty the bottle. Any questions? Comments?

For those more spendy type guys, you can buy a bottle pump and a low weight digital scale. :TU: But that can easily run you $500-$600. If you spray enough, it can be worth it.

Around here, they will no longer sell n20 without the SO2 in it because some dumba** froze himself with a bottle somehow and then proceeded to sue the supply company (Air Liquide I think) for his own stupidity. They only sell to medical licensed people now.

So your saying they don't sell the commercial grade sulfer'd nitrous any more? That's B.S. You can do the same thing with nitrogen so I don't see what the difference is.

This works great I have done this for years.I just bought a filling station with a buddy of mine it was almost $700 I don't know if it was worth it when you can get the same results for alot less. While we are on the subject of making things we made a bottle heater out of a metal wash tub and a heating element with a thermostat from the hardware store.Install the element in the tub fill with water and set the desired temp drop the bottles in and go assuming you keep it out of the sun the bootle stay the same temp all day.I think I have around 60 dollars in mine it's not fancy but works great.

Out in the boonies where I live you can't get the sulfured stuff, I shoulda made that more clear. Only the medical grade is available without paying big shipping costs like from Nitrous Express or another supplier (who does the black bulk bottles?).

yeah, you can freeze yourself with half-dozen other things, but of course you wouldn't normally handle them. All I know is I tried to get some of the stuff, and can't. half-dozen of my buddies that were doing exactly what you are got told they bought their last bottle. 2 of them even owned their own bottles and now they are useless as nobody will fill them.

I have run med grade before there is no difference the only reason the for the sulfer is to keep morons from huffing it.Will they let you buy the med grade?

What he said. They put the sulfer in to make it smell bad so idiots won't snort it. The sulfer has nothing to do with the performance of the "nitrous".

No, They are not supposed to let anyone but licensed people get their hands on "medical grade" nitrous... Medical grade just means that it don't stink.

You used to be able to get medical grade here until about 4-years ago. As I understand there is no actual law against dispensing it. However, after the above-mentioned freezing incident, the companies nixed it for their own liability protection from the morons of a different sort, and so the reason for my post above.

All my buddies had a setup just like in Paul's picture, and even owned their own tanks, then one day somebody went for a re-fill and the Air Liquide (darn French anyway) guy said, "sorry, new rule". :ball:
