i was looking for more power for my 50 buick cruiser that had a 350 buick in it and i had a 144 b&m blower
on the shelf from another project that never got going
so i friend bet me 50 bucks i couldn't put it on, with the
only stipulation- no welding [i was a retired welder] .
well i'm 50 bucks richer and runs like a raped ape , i couldn't believe the power! i used some aluminum 1/2"
by 2" flat stock and a holly to quad carb adaptor and j-b weld and a lot of measuring.i cut the ribbed pully down
and put a groove in it and turned the radiator hose neck
90 degrees. paid $450 for the blower with no manifold
off ebay and another $100 for etc.you can find these blowers in flee markets also. check out the pics!

what part of joisey ya from? Sweet blown 350, does it clear the hood? If I was your friend I'd question the bet since you did use JB WELD  Now that you got your $50 you want to pull it apart and weld it, dont ya?

Nice job and good results to thinking outside the box.
You'll have to let us know how and what you need to keep the detonation under control. What kinda boost you get under normal driving rpm?

And welcome to the board! Put a name in your posts Joisey Boy.

yea the brand name does have "weld" in it, but isnt jb weld more like an epoxy?
btw awsome job on the blower, now unretire your skills and weld that baby up

hi, actually its bolted together with a 3/8" spacer on the
front end to get the angle correct so the carb sits level on the top of the blower.i used j-b weld just as a filler and as it takes heat well [i fixed a cracked block once
with it] and there is only 7 or 8 lbs pressure ,its fine.
if i were going to make more i would just mill the carb
adapter 4 degrees on a milling machine and use a gasket between it and the blower plate.the bolts screw
the adapter and into the stock carb threads on the
manifold with a quad carb gasket in between.

i'm from redbank. area and as i replyed on another thread i would mill the adapter and use gaskets.welding causes distortion and then you would need to have the top and bottom surface groud to make it rite.thanks

you would need to have the blower first as i was using a chevy style with the longer water neck and the blower
snout is longer then the short pump style and the base plate would sit more forward on the carb adaptor with a short style. thanks

What are the drawbacks in a set up like this? How is fuel distribution? Was this a stock engine was it modified?
