Hi , does anyone has some interior pictures of Skylark/GS of 1968/69 (or other models) with a Buckskin interior TRIM CODE 173 Some parts of my car where repainted(dye) red :error: by previous owner and I'm looking to bring them with original color or the closest to original . By the way does anyone know which color code can do good result ?
No buckskin interior ? What I'd like to see is the difference of shade of the backseat with the vinyl of the bucket seat . And if their is a # of color to be use to "match" the original color ... i'm sick of this red
Here is some seat trim I'd like to paint/dye , does I have to get rid of all the red paint first ? Or I can shoot some SEM over the red after cleaning them ? I've found this picture on E-Bay , not sure if I could find "exact" color , but that'll be better than red
Yes , but i'm sick of this red uzzled: This won't last for long  Looking for new package tray as well to replace the red leather covered one who's in the car . That red paint is hard to remove , I try with "Easy Off" but It don't work , I think I'm gonna paint (dye) over the red . o No:
as far as i remember from 60's a-bodies, there were no two-tone seats in any cars. seatbacks & trim same colour as seat cover.
They were painted by the previous owner ... now i'm looking to repaint(dye) them . Problem is to find the right color , to be as close as possible . Any clue ? That's why I'd like to see some interior pictures with the same color trim ( buckskin #173 ) Or even other 68/69 car to see how close the color match between plastic and vinyl
Donald My best Buick buddy Patrick has a Buckskin 68. I contacted him when this thread first showed up, but he is not on the Internet. I will see his car next week at GS Nats and will get pics and info on any dye he may have used. (I know he has Legendary seat covers, and used a F*rd dye on the dash pad, but I do not remember if he did anything with seat backs.) If oven cleaner won't take the red off, I'd be more than comfortable with just painting over it.
Thanks for the info ! I'm also looking for a package tray , I contact TPP (and get very fast response :TU: ) but unfortunatly they don't have any picture available . I wonder what's the difference between the "standard" and "Deluxe" ones . 19$ vs 39$ . They have it in green/gold ? Don't know what it will be like . Or I have to dye it with same color of backseat & armrest ... Does anyone have a picture where I could see what the package tray could look in a 68 Skylark/GS , any color to give me an idea ? (my car doesn't have his original package tray)
Paint I just redid all of the interior painted parts on my 66. Got the Paint from Tower Paint (they are on the web) Gave them the color code off of the firewall plate, and guess what, the paint matched perfectly. My interior color is Dove, which is pretty close to your color. Kooch
Any one has a picture (68 or 69) of the Package tray ? Is this possible that they were cover by the same floor carpet ? Or kinda cardboard/plastic ?
Update-- I did not get any pictures of Patrick's car at the Nats, but here is what I learned: He did the dash pad with a Ford dye that is now discontinued, so not much help there... He did nothing to the seat backs. Color-wise, they look identical to the vinyl seat covers. You should be able to send your interior code to one of the better paint/dye vendors and get an exact match.
Not sure what the difference is between "standard" and "Deluxe" package trays, but all of the ones I've seen are a mesh/burlap kind of material. Patrick bought a "gold" one from Year One, and it seemed to match pretty well. He also bought "gold" carpet, and it matched the virgin remains of his original.
Thank you Nicholas , I ended buying some duplicolor paint (desert sand) , it not match the vinyl color but I like the result . I'll get the "deluxe" package tray later this summer they have some "hidden holes" for the speakers no grill needed .
