Looking for bucket seats to fit 69 skylark.

Are you looking for something ready to bolt in, or a restoration project? I have an extra set of 68 bucket seats that need a full restoration job, including covers. If interested, I'll figure out what I need for them.

I expect to have to buy new upholstry as long as the frames and backs are o.k. I should be able to restore them.

I would expect that these would need to be sandblasted and repainted/refinished, in addition to new covers, etc. If I recall, the mounting "legs" are rusty, but not rusted away. You would have to totally disassemble to determine the extent of work needed, such as foams and springs. They are out in the back of my storage shed. I may be able to get them out this weekend and get pics. Unless I come down with the flu bug my wife just got over... :Dou:

I paid $100 for the pair, and would sell for that same price, plus shipping. I would think Greyhound to Cincy might be cheapest way to go. Let me know if you would like to see pics, just PM your email address. I'll try to do it this weekend.

By the way, I do not know for sure if the 68 seats are physically the same fit as 69 bucket seats. Are you doing a bench-to-buckets conversion? If so, I wouldn't think it would matter, since you have to weld in the mounting brackets. You may want to investigate the fit before deciding on these. I do not have the answers.

Yes I am doing bench to bucket conversion. As long as the seats are complete and just need tlc to restore I would be interested. My email is kevinandkelli@fuse.net I have heard that Greyhound is cheap. I will ask on the board if there is any difference between 68 and 69 seats. Thanks.

Well, not only am I home sick now, but my grandfather passed away Wed night, so I will be out of town for the funeral this weekend if I am healthy enough to travel. I'll get at those seats as soon as I can, sorry for the delay on pics. Ok, back to bed....

Fluffy soft cotton... :pp That stuff hasn't bothered me at all this winter, we've been pretty mild. The past Several Weeks have seen high temps in the 25-35 range, VERY nice for Dec/Jan in ND. Expecting 40+ tomorrow. Yep, I can smell the green grass already! :bglasses:

I've done some preliminary checking into shipping costs, and believe it or not, UPS is BY FAR the least expensive way to send these seats out. Greyhound would run about $50 per seat, USPS is the worst at $70 per seat, while UPS Ground would be around $25 per seat. These are approximations, but I believe they would be very close to actual. I would prepare them for shipping and get exact figures before providing a total shipping cost. Let me know what you think when you are back from FL. Thanks!

Thanks for the pics. Do you think there would be any problems painting the backs and bases black? I have a black car.

I don't have any experience trying to paint those plastic pieces, but I'll bet someone here has done that. But keep in mind that those pieces are by no means perfect. They do show wear and tear reflecting their 38 years. If I was going to restore these seats for my car, I might consider looking at repro pieces.

As long as all pieces are there I can try to paint and replace if necessary. Your price sounds reasonable. P.M. me your address and total with shipping. Thanks ,Kevin.

Kevin, I physically hauled one of the seats out to my work today, and put it on our UPS scale. It tips the scales at just over 53 lbs, and the Heavy Duty cardboard box I will use weighs a bit over 8 lbs. So there's 61 lbs, plus I am going to bolt a pair of 2x4's to the bottom of the legs, that are the length of the box, to stabilize the seat in the box, and keep the legs from poking a hole thru the box bottom. Then I'll add some packing materials, and once I am satisfied with the packing, I will get an exact shipping weight. My concern is that I do not exceed 70 lbs per box. Once the 70 lb threshold is passed, the UPS rates go up quickly. I'll make every effort to keep it below 70.

Also, I will need you to PM your specific delivery zip code, and if it is a Residential address or a business address. Those 2 factors play a large part in the rates. The $25 I mentioned above, is for a residential delivery to a generic Cin OH zip code. Once I have that info from you, I'll be able to tell you exactly what the shipping charges will be. I prefer Paypal if you use it, or a Postal Money order. We'll figure that stuff out after I can get exact UPS fees for you. I'll try to get one seat fully prepped for shipping tomorrow, if possible. That way I'll have an exact weight for Monday to get a UPS rate.

    Headrest

If your looking to be correct 69 seats should have a headrest and pushbutton on the back. 69 to 72 abodys are all the same.
