I went from a bench to buckets in my 71 Skylark and it was quite expensive though I love the look so it was worth it.
    pair of bucket seats $300
new bucket seat covers (from Legendary) $300? Don't remember exactly
    bucket seat mounting brackets $50
Buick shorty console (kept the column shift and used this console) $200
New carpet (figured might as well since the seats would be new) $150
New foam, hogrings, hogring pliers, etc... $100
installation of the buckets (had my interior guy properly weld the bucket seat brackets to the floor) $250

So you see how it adds up pretty quick. If you are switching from column shift to floor shift it will also add to the price. You can recoupe a little of the cost by selling your bench seat. Mine was a split bench in really nice shape and I got $150 for it.

I dont think I could sell mine, you would have to go look @ the interior I have now. If I did get buckets I would want to get the same theme I have on my current bench on the buckets.

what year bucket seats could I use? does it have to be out of a buick? I may be able to find some camaro bucket seats sitting around my granpa's or some elcamino

Just about any bucket seat will fit, but as for looks, there will be slight differences between a chevy buckets and the buick buckets.

Installing them will be easy, you will just need to drill holes for two more bolts for each seat.

Thanks, I'll try to find some 70-72 Buick Bucket seats on the board here in a few months if nothing shows up locally.

I always preferred using the back seat even when the car had a front bench seat - the steering wheel would always get in the way!

I prefer front passenger side, back doesnt have enough space to move around in with my seats all the way back. way more space in that front part of the bench :)

But if your in back, the pass. seat folds forward nearly flat. though my drivers seat headrest hits the horn button and then sets off the horn. :blast:

You sound like a bunch of horn... (horn blowing teens, yeah that's what I was going to say, yeah:rolleyes: )... never mind that, Just looked up profiles. Most of you ARE teens.
Good things never change. After all these years, it's good to see that cars are still able to be used for their second function... Can't quite remember it exactly, but there was something I read once about the first accesory to a car, and its purpose was along those lines.
    Enjoy youth.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

I had so much fun in my first car (1976 Pontiac Lemans Sport Coupe) I took the back seat out of the car and kept it. Years later I was with a girl at my home and she asked why I the hell I had a old seat out of a car. :) I told her I had a lot of great memories and times on that seat......she smiled and said....lets make a few more....who says you have to be in a car to do it on a back seat  man I love thinking back to thoughs wonderfull summer nights....and NO I am not a teen but sure as hell wish I was. oh how I would love to do it all over again.
