Want to put buckets in my skylark just wondering if any one had tips for right way Do i need any special parts THANKS
If you are needing to convert from bench to buckets, yes, you need special parts. Only the rear outermost mounting piont (threaded hole in floor with a bolt) is the same between the two installations. You need the FOUR-piece bucket seat bracket set, which is available from several of the major suppliers. The brackets need to be welded to the floor. The two-piece set will have your seats sit wrong. There have been lots of threads on this in the past.
Burt, Try this link. They have a whole article on this with pictures. Looks like it's for '70-'72 models, don't know if it is accurate for other years. http://www.buickperformance.com/buckconsole.htm Hope this helps, Harry
Nicholas is correct! Get the good four pice set. The plain looking inner two piece set is crap! I wasted money on these years ago then went out and spent hours cutting originals out of a junkyard car then more hours grinding the old floor boards off them because the good repros were not available at the time. Are you using a console as well? this is not to tough a job just take your time and trial fit alot before welding.
just bolt the bucket(with seat tracks bolted to the bottom of the bucket) to the floor brackets and attach the back bolt that Nick mentioned.....then get the seat aligned side-to-side and scribe along the edges of the floor brackets. To make it easier go ahead and remove the bucket seat back (the upright portion) as well as the textured plastic sides on the lower seat.
