Just to let you know, Year One is selling the plastic skirts for the bucket seats in most colors now and i bought the pearl white. The color matched very, very close to legendary interiors pearl white stuff.

    David G de-modded....

Are you sure they aren't Legendary pieces? YO buys a lot of their int stuff from Legendary. They don't make any themselves. My bucket seat covers from YO were Legendary parts.

    David G,

I checked Legendary's catalog and they did not list pearl white as an available color. They most likely did make them but did not list every color available, where YO did. Not to get off the subject, but have you bought any of the bucket headrest lock assemblys? I bought a set from OPG and they were to shallow. They did not cover up the retainer metal piece underneath.
I measured them and were to shallow by almost a 1/16 of an inch!! I need to buy from somebody else but don't want to get stuck with the same ones.

    Dave,

I am glad too about the painting. I wrecked all my plastic stuff trying to do that.

All of the headrest locks are made by the same company...they are all too shallow. I have bought them from Postons, OPG, NPD...same problem.
Seems the company made a repro part from a bad original.

No solution that I know about at this time except to paint the metal anchor the same or similar color as the seat material.

are you guys talking about the bucket seat headrest escutcheons??? Two on top of each seat where the headrest rods pass through? Cost approx $13 each or so.

Dont think they are called escrutcheons....called headrest locks.....your description is correct.

then they can be disassembled and the plastic part rechromed.....to reinstall the oval flat retainer/washer plate on the underside you would use some VersaChem type glue that will melt the two pieces of plastic back together. This oval flat plate was originally held to the chrome plastic part via a melting type weld of the plastic. I have dissassembled these...save the springs etc and reinstall before reassembly.

    Headrest lock assemblys

    George,
Thanks for input. The return guy from OPG said that they sold thousands of these and this is the first time he has heard of this.

    Patton,

I will take apart mine and send them out to be rechromed..

    Thanks, Gary

Well....Return Guy must be new. I told OPG when I get the first set 2 years ago they were too shallow and needed to be deeper......never followed up on it.

that seems to be a common problem with some of these aftermarket parts. Probably because one company tends to have the part repro'd and then they wholesale to everyone else. I got a box of stuff from GroundUp Restorations the other day and when I opened it, it was a virtual cornucopia of other vendors' products.....stuff in Classic Industries bags, another part in a "The Parts Place" box, etc.

The guy that repros the parts has costs "sunk" into getting molds, etc made and they don't want to spend the $$ again to change them  Tho 70 442 Olds repro grilles are a good example. They were made A LONG TIME AGO and you can definitely tell the difference between the repros and the real thing. I am thankful they make them but I doubt they will ever improve the product. The Olds grilles...I don't think they are a case where the product gets sloppier and sloppier as the molds wear out...they were like that from the start. A nice part but nowhere near as nice as the 70 GS repro grilles are.

Took apart the top plastic pieces to be rechromed and 1 of them is cracked.Do you guys know if Mr. G's can do a repair to these also??

I think they can but it would be cheaper to buy a new one or find a nice clean original to be rechromed.
