I have heard different opinions on the bucket seat brackets that attach to the floor for a bench to bucket seat conversion. Can anyone straighten me out? Which brackets work best? I have a pair of Strato buckets I want to install in my '71 Skylark.
    Thanks!

I got mine from OPGI and was satisfied with the fit.

I just ordered my set from "The Parts Place" as I'm doing the bench to bucket seat swap by this Spring. Here is the info:
    Part #IN8513Z
    (1971 - 1972 Skylark/GS) BUCKET SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET SET - 2 BUCKETS 4 PIECE KIT (OEM STYLE)
    $49

Get the 4 piece set-up and weld them in place.

Will help you do the install....once you get the front outer corner brkt welded in place....real easy to get the pedestals square on the seat and set it in place on the floor and you can locate the inner brkts.

Don't buy the cheap straight ones. Get the correct ones with the notches in them.

I got my brackets from Ames (www.amesperf.com). 4-piece set, part #A137AC, $42.00 in 2010 catalog.

I used the (excellent) info at Buick Performance.com (see George N.'s post above) to position my brackets. The diagram at the bottom of his instruction page which gives the measurements off the sill plate screw holes is very helpful. Using those measurements and the single existing threaded hole in the floor as reference, my brackets ended up perfectly positioned. Good luck with your project.

    Dan,

Thanks, the 2-tone treatment (and lack of headrests) probably doesn't work for the "purists" in the group, but I like it. I was a complete novice when I decided to tackle the bench-to-bucket conversion, but I got it done! Don't want to hijack this thread, but if anyone has any questions about the process, just post them in a separate thread in this forum. I, and all the other members who have been through this, will be happy to assist in any way we can. You can't beat this forum for helpful, friendly advice!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Always use the 4 piece bucket seat bracket set and weld them to the floor.
