When I went to put the bucket seats back in my '68 GS, the outer rear foot seems to be off the floor by about 3/4". Is this correct? Is there a spacer or something that goes under that foot?

Is it an original bucket car? Does it have floor brackets? Maybe one of the tracks moved. Should be no spacers and should line up on bracket studs if it is original bucket car.

The seat tracks are spring loaded. As soon as you unbolt and pull them off the floor you'll find the holes no longer line up with the bolts because the spring (strong) has gone and gummed up the works. Got to set the seat in place on two or three of the studs and push the the seat around on the tracks to get all the holes and studs in phase.

If that's not the problem, maybe someone switched cars on you in the middle of the night. :Do No:

The seats are original to the car. They had several washers under the front feet when I removed them which I assume the previous owner put in for a greater recline. He probably preferred that. I am not going to replace them as I prefer to see over the wheel when I drive  . Anyway, I will have to look more closely at it. Three corners have studs and the corner in question takes a bolt. When I removed the interior, I found a spacer floating around (can't remember where now) that actually seems to be the right height so I assumed this corner used this with a longer bolt. But I only found the one so figured the other was lost and I'd have to make it for the passenger side. Guess I'm just going to have to put it in and take a closer look at it. Thanks for the input.

Someone modified or swapped out your bucket seat tracks.
You need to send us a pic and we can tell what is wrong.
For buckets, you use 3 nuts and one screw.

Three nuts and one screw (bolt) is correct. When I mentioned studs, I meant in the floor pan. I'll look at it again after work and send you pictures if I can't resolve it. I did go to buickperformance and read the segment about swapping a bench for buckets. Good info. It's probably just me. I didn't have the time the other day to really look at it closely.
