Started up the GS on Easter Morning and the dead battery wasn't a problem, Got it runing and was washing the car so we could go for the frist ride of 04. It is a 30 over 455 with the Ta 310 cam, SP1 , TA. roller rockers, balanced, ported and boweled 850 holley, headers and such, with about 4000 miles on it, a few runs down the track and shows, It is a toy. After about 15 mins. I got in a blimped the throttle to about 3500 RPM and bang......... bang.....bang etc. the problem is a broken push rod on the drivers side fifth valve from the front. They are the stock push rods. Should I be looking at any other things than just replacing the broken push rod. I have never pushed it past 5700 RPM.

??????????? i would guess that you had a crack in the push rod, i no running to tight will break a rocker, but never heard of a push rod breaking.

I don't see any reason for a pushrod to just break from normal wear and tear. I would look into the rest of th valve train.
I had a collapsed lifter in my 350ci that caused the pushrod to slam against the galley. When I investigated this ticking sound and found my pushrod hitting the side of the galley I was actually surprissed the pushrod hadn't been too badly damaged.
I'd replace the pushrod and check out the rest of the valve train as well as change my oil and check for any fragments of th pushrod in the oil.

Do you have adjustable pushrods? Have you checked lifter preload? Your problem may lie there. Had a friend who used to regularly put pushrods through the rocker tips. After the 2nd or 3rd time it happened, we installed a set of adjustables, which corrected the lifter preload problem. Hasn't happened since.

I'd also check the spring retainer to guide/seal clearance, should have at least .060.
