Check this ad out where I sold one I modified as you are describing. Like I say in the ad get ready for some grinding. That is a big chunk of cast iron. It felt a little sluggish down low when I did it so I added the spacer and it really perked it up. If you have mild gears and a mild converter you will need the spacer. Maybe not so important if you you have a higher stall and some good gears.

I think adding a spacer will net you more gains than removing the divider. Im not sure if removing the divider alone will net you that much on its own.

Removing the divider and adding a spacer will net you the most.
Check out Post#5 and #8. I gained 60hp from changing to a 4bbl intake and a holley 750 DP with 1" spacer. No other changes except for tuning.

With my combo I had no loss of low end. I had to be careful not to chirp the tires when starting from a stop. It was totally effortless and torquey.

Yes i agree with that. I dont think removing the divider would hurt. I would copy the chevy rpm edelbrock intake design and add a spacer if you feel powerloss somewhere in the band.

A 4 hole spacer will restore low end,and an open spacer will give you more high end. The best thickness is the one that after trial and error is the one that works the best. Thats why the dyno shops will try different one to see what the engine likes the best.
