This is a "BRAND NEW", never been sold or registered, GNX #359 with 9.8 miles on it. A buddy of mine called a local dealership and asked if we could take some pictures of it and the salesman agreed, as long as we didn't disclose where it is. It was in their old showroom, under a cover. The salesman said its not for sale, even though it has their window sticker on it from 1987 for $100,000. It was really incredible seeing it still in the showroom from 1987. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Are the other cars in the background new as well? Looks like a pair of late 80's Sunbirds?

Van Atta Buick here in the Binghamton area, sold a GNX to a gentleman that picked the car up with a rollback. He handled it like it was made out of glass!! Believe me....he paid more than sticker!!!

Friends of mine worked there then......they each had a turn BRIEFLY 'testing' it. :Brow: These diehard BBC guys were thoroughly impressed!! :TU:

I don't believe this car was intended by the owner to hit the streets. That was the impression my friends had.

I don't think an unused 15 year old car is anything worth having... a 3000 pound paperweight?

It really should be run a few miles a month... the rebuild costs for a mothballed car will be really high, and it may never be the same again.

It's an AUTOMOBILE for goodness sake!

You know Dominic,I know exactly the place that GNX resides. Yes,it's got absolutely 0 miles on it and has never left that building ever since it was gotten.

    Definately a cool car!

I think they stickered around $30k. Doubt if a single one sold for that low though!!

I don't get it... I just don't get it. A mechanically ruined car as a work of art. Maybe I'm just not enlightened enough.

    And I like abstract art!

My guess is a 70 GSX with 8 miles on it and still on a showroom floor would go upwards of $200,000 considering some much less pristene bring 100,000.
But wouldn't it be cool. :bglasses:

I've heard of a few guys who learned about the GNX program and actually ordered one
Yes sir, ole John Chamberlain pulled one of those off.

Ordered it directly and then had an agreement at the dealership (that it was to be dropped off at) to tell him when the transporter was in route so the only driving by anyone else than John was to back it off the truck :TU:

The I stored it in our garage for a good while till he was ready for it.
How cool that was to walk down in the garage and flick on the light and there sat a BRAND NEW GNX, I'd start it up once and awhile for him and just stand back there and listen to the snarl from the McLauren 6.

The day finally came when he wanted to pick it up and John asked me to put a coat of wax on it and detail anything that looked dirty from it's ride here on the transporter .

Didn't have to ask me twice to have the pleasure of detailing a new GNX!

John came over to pick it up and my buddies and I were just quietly standing there looking probably like a bunch of cave men seeing someone with a stick of fire for the first time

John snapped me out of my coma and called me over and asked me to get in the passengers seat and said "Close the door" (thought he just wanted to talk at first).

"Wanna go for a quick ride?"  :TU:

He pulled that GNX out front of the house and without hardly getting on it we rocketted off up the hill with a set of posi's following behind us :3gears:

One of my top Buick memories I have.

There was a Sunbird convertible in there, I don't think it was brand new, but mint, and a used Sunfire. Also, there was a 67 RS Camaro 4 speed that was in decent shape and a 90 something 6 cylinder Firebird. Kinda wierd that stuff was in there too.

    Gnx

Hey Scott, never would have guessed Van Atta Buick sold a GNX, I bought my first new car from them!
In late '87, I got a call from a salesman at Ron Slivka Buick in Grand Blanc, MI, now Al Serra Buick-GMC-Hummer about an '87 GNX, someone had told them I might be interested in buying it, so I went over and looked at it and it was an oranged peeled mess of a paint job, I attempeted, but not very hard to see if they would take my '86 Red Corvette with around 5K miles in on trade, and they would not work with me, so I walked away. That car, I think, belongs to a salesman at Suski Buick-Chevrolet in Birch Run, MI about 20 miles north of Flint, the Buicktown Chapter of the BCA had a meeting last September at Suski and there was a GNX displayed there with the original window sticker still in the window, and it seemed to be the same car they tried to sell me! It started to rain and it disappeared back inside. It had very few miles on it. If I knew then what we know now about these cars, I'd probably done something different and bought one, most went for just over sticker, but I doubt any went for under the sticker price, which was $32-35K,
I don't think they are worth $100k in new clothes, but if there's buyer for every seat.
