I built a 462 for a rat rod that I'm putting together and it has turned out to be a little bit much motor for a everyday ride. This motor was built using "all" brand new name brand parts and I would guess that the motor will make roughly 500 to 525 HP and probably around 525 to 550 lbs. torque. It has only been cranked 4 times total (including break in) and driven twice (as of 01/05/12) for a total of roughly 20 miles. The motor has 10.59 to 1 compression, TA286-04H (custom grind) camshaft with 234/ 252 at .050" - .478"/.478" - 113 LS + 4 degrees, 1970 block - zero decked, all oiling mods, balanced, Cloyes double roller chain, hyperuetectic +.030" over TA pistons (didnt need forged for what I was doing), ARP bolts, TA gaskets and oiling mods to cover, TA balancer, TA oil pan and pickup, custom made single groove pulleys, Edelbrock RPM Stage 1 heads, Offy 2 x 4 intake with 450 cfm carbs, points distributor that has been re curved with good name brand Internals. I'm sure there's stuff that I've not mentioned.... Long block (minus intake, carbs, accessories,fuel lines, etc...) price will run $6,000.00 FIRM to make my money back. I don't really want to sell complete running motor ( minus headers, and carb linkage) but will if someone offers me $7,500.00 FIRM. All payments will be CASH ONLY!!!!!! LOCAL PICKUP.
