why is it when you buy bonded brake shoes, that one has more brake pad (meat) than the other???

anybody else ever have this problem?

All brake shoes are that way. There is a primary shoe and a secondary shoe. Thats the reason they stop. They're called "self energizing". The Buick service manual has a good description of the action. Or you can look it up on Wikipedia or Google it.

The larger shoe goes on the rear.
