Appears to have white headlight bezels and a stock hood also- looks like a merge from Brad's car towards the production X. Is this a 2nd one???

Looks like a black interior, probably not the prototype.

It looks like it has upper peak moldings, brads front and rear spoilers. Might have been some left over stuff at Buick Styling for this photo shoot

I wonder if that car got crushed as a lot of prototype/design study cars do? Or is it out there somewhere? :Brow:

Either way, cool archive pic, thanks for posting!

The hood appears to be the eventual steel hood; not the prototype's fiberglass.

I agree, and suspect it was the design teams last rejection just prior to their final version. I doubt that car ever left the factory, besides the testing grounds.:Brow:

I seem to recall a story about a design exercise GSX that had a brown interior? Maybe someone mentioned it at the reunion?

And yes, my X has side pipes on it in that photo from back in the day...They are long gone now though. Steven Dove owned my car back in the mid 80's and he tracked down a complete owner history back to 71/72. He must have contacted one of the prior owners and they sent him a few old photos from when they owned it- All with the sidepipes and Cragars. There is a cool picture of it lined up next to a Chevelle SS and a Dart GT from back in the day as well. I'll try and post a couple of the pic's.

    Tks,

    Eric,
The "GSX" with the saddle interior was a Saturn Yellow design study car. It had some "very" unusual options.

Did anyone buy this photo? I would be intersted in getting a really nice copy or full size scan.

Boy you guys are so nosey,
Anyway the car came with a Burnished Saddle interior, Burnished Saddle 16" sport wheel, the wide red or red/orange double painted stripe (You can't tell from the pics, 14" chrome wheels with blacked out centers, Goodyear Polyglass 14" tires (not 15" Polyglass GT tires), NO rocker panel moldings, DRUM brakes, real adjustable Sport mirrors (maybe the first set ever made), no rear spoiler decal, and some other unusual things. (It looks like they grabbed a vehicle off the line and started putting things on it to see how it looked. It was definitely a design study vehicle.)

The picture that this thread is about, shows the car with a GSX sail panel decal. That is one of the things Buick originally thought about including but later axed out. We have documentation of this and other options that were removed before the GSX Package was finalized from Factory Inter-office memos.
