Anyone else go bowling lately? Little brother's birthday tomorrow so we went tonight for their "late night" whatever it is. Black lights on and the lanes glow, strobe lights on, lasers going, the colored lights with the little mirror that make the color dots all around on, disco ball spinning and really loud music. Not your grandpa's bowling alley.

Bowling rules! I usually find a 16lbs house ball with extra large holes for my big hands. I'd like a lighter one for my bad back, but they don't drill the lighter balls for big fingers. My method is straight ball. The one local alley clocks em at 24 mph. I'm good for a 150 game every time I bowl, but I frequently roll a boner. My goal is usually to see if I can blast a pin into the other lanes or out into the gutter forward of the swiper. I love hitting a pin thats in the gutter! What follows can best be descibed as unpredictible! Have fun!!!!

And destructive. If you ever have been below deck you would see what can happen when someone drills a pin in the ditch. It can get expensive for the house owner very quickly trust me. Our house rules say to inform someone of a pin thats out. While I have seen some ''interesting'' things happen like you say, I have also seen what can happen behind the wall.

As far as bowling in general, I am active in 2 leagues for now. The regular mens league on Thurs. nights, and we have a travel league here that is a blast. Mens league is just that. We play poker(based on marks), and drink ''usually''.......2 beers all night. . The travel league is fun because its tough. We bowl 8 games back to back which in itself is not that hard. The trick is that after you start, you HAVE to switch lane pairs after every single game. And you have to do this with no practice on the new lanes, you just start. So any lane condition decisions have to be made quick for adjustments. And ususally about half way through the day a ball change is needed. Any of you out there that bowl and throw a hook will understand how the lanes will dry out after about 4-5 games. Also it gives us a chance to bowl in other towns in 3 different states(Colo., Nebr., Kans.). Its fun.........

I look forward to bowling usually. Until it tries to interrupt racing, then we have a choice to make........ :3gears: :3gears: (easy choice, lmao).

We go bowling maybe about once a year. I like going, but for some reason, it's one of those things we just don't do very often.

I'm happy if I get into 3 digits every game. :pp

Actually, I've never caused any damage. The pin has always hit the other pins. Although once it hit the pins in the other lane! I try not to damge other peoples stuff. BTW, were I live is were Kingpin was filmed. Were Woody Harrelson lost his hand is in Rochester PA. Were Randy Quaid first bowled with Woody was in Baden PA. And one of the other lanes was in Zelinople PA.

I don't remember what I did the first 2 games but the 3rd game was a lowly 59 but the 4th game shot up to 129.

Haven't been in quite a few months. Anymore, I can only bowl about 2 or 3 games max......right hand starts bugging me about then. Usually after the 2nd game, I'll just start bowling left handed.

Amazing how much of a hook you can get, bowling left handed, with a right handed ball. :Brow:

My best game was in my late teens (man...was it that long ago??). My Dad and I bowled 10 games in a row. :eek2: Somewhere around game 6, both of started off with 5 or 6 strikes. I ended up only having one open frame in that game. Wound up with a best of 199......only missed a 211 by one pin. :Dou:

I bowl in a league, once a week for the last 4 or so years but have been bowling on and off for all my life...I threw a 299 game last year, and carry about a 185-190 avg...Solid pocket hit and left a 10 pin...didn't even wiggle it...That ball wasn't any different than the previous 11(except for the one brooklyn :Dou: ), but it just wouldn't carry!!! Oh well, I'll get close again...277, several 260's, bunches of 220's... :Do No:

I was in a league once with my mom/my friend+his dad. We won but we had a huge handicap. Still have the trophy though, winning is winning.

My brother "lost" my dad's ball. My dad's hands and technique are like mine - and he had his thumb-hole drilled at a special angle to eliminate a blister/callous on the edge of his thumb.

So now with a house ball, after 2 games my thumb is ground beef. Maybe someday I'll get my own ball and have it drilled special. Love to bowl though.

Anyone in New England do Duck-Pin Bowling???

The bowling alley that we went to is right next to a river/bridge and there's all kinds of stories about in the real serious leagues that they have, sometimes people lose and their ball ends up going for a swim. There's supposed to be a whole bunch of balls sitting right under the bridge.
