Yes, several times slips found. Car was running 11.90's in the quarter. The car at one time had a Shelby Box Top cross ram with two fours installed, high compression pistons, two electric fuel pumps, crazy ignition system. Have old pics of the car with the hood open, looked very wild. The racecar stuff was removed 30 years ago and sold off for extra cash. Too bad that stuff is missing. Car will put back to stock specs once I am done.
No matter what was done to the engine, that is dang quick for what appears to be an all steel car with 289 naturally aspirated cubic inches....especially with 60s technology. Bummer all the vintage race stuff is gone, the cross rams bring big coin.
That is a major score! You should get a Marti Report! Y'know, I initially thought you were wrong, seeing that the 390 was available without the GT package, and that the GT was not required for K-codes in 1965-66. But after poking around my records and searching around the Internet. I think you're right!

Ford stamped vin's on their blocks? or just some of them? They're not in my signature, but I have a pair of '67 Fairlanes. I bought a plain-jane white Fairlane 500 with a 289 and 4 speed when I went to college since my GS wasn't driveable yet. Then bought a GT a few years later. The GT was a project that I started in 1990 and never got back to working on it since then.... too many Buicks came along!
Spotted this Mustang running down the highway Sat. Sounded quite healthy. Second pic(caught blinker in mid-blink). Sorry it's a little blurry, was a little busy.
I'm specifically talking about the rear grille, which was a separate option from the Exterior Decor package, but required if you wanted the grille. Just to be clear, there was also a dark gray that was available independent of the rear grille. The car I showed doesn't have the blackout.
Progress on the K code. Motor done, transmission done, suspension done. Once the engine is installed I will pull the rear differential for rebuild. Getting closer.
